TAAKE "Doedskvad" 20th Anniversary show

This project captures a night soaked in the frostbitten fervour of Norwegian black metal as TAAKE brought their Doedskvad 20th anniversary tour to Camden’s cavernous Underworld. On April 5th, the venue transformed into a sanctuary of shrieks, fog, and raw atmosphere as Hoest and his band performed the iconic 2005 album in its entirety—gritty, unrelenting, and steeped in helnorsk svartmetall tradition.

Opening the ritual were Vestia and Necro Ritual, each steeped in their own brand of sonic malevolence. Vestia delivered a haunting set that seethed with occult energy, while Necro Ritual tore through the darkness with corpse-painted precision and caustic intensity—perfect prelude to the icy crescendo that followed.

Photographed on the Fujifilm X-H2, the series explores not just the motion and chaos, but the ritualistic stillness between notes—the stare behind smeared makeup, the slow coil of incense through lights, the crowd suspended in reverence. It's a portrait of a scene steeped in legacy and defiance, captured at its most alive.
